You can first choose your design on your instrument. Here in VORTEX we also do custom designs Here are just a few of our available options:

We mostly use and recommend Schaller or Hipshot Hardware because of their great built quality and stability but if you like any other brands everything is possible!
Since choosing the pickups are a personal thing we use nearly every great pickup brand like Curtis Novak, TV Jones, Lindy Fralin, Lollar, Seymour Duncan, EMG, Aguilar, Bartolini and even Piezo pickups BUT ALSO we even make our own pickups which sound absolutely amazing!
We do custom inlays and we use every inlay material possible like Abalone Shells, Mother of Pearl, Wood, Aged Clays, Epoxy and even some more!

The characteristics of the sound of an instrument depends on every little detail. When you are in a quest to find the exact sound and look you are looking for, everything matters! Although in an electric guitar or bass nobody can deny the crucial part that the pickups play in the sound. but when it comes to playability and tone what is even more important is the construction and the built quality and the tonewoods you choose for your instrument!
Each species of wood has it's own resonance and character and choosing the right piece of wood is absolutely substantial to the sound you're searching for or the look you are going for! Even in the from the same tree, woods tend to sound slightly different from top to bottom.
We recommend transparent oil finishes because we have lots of beautiful pieces of wood and some of them are hundreds or in some cases thousand of years old! but if solid color is your taste then you shouldn't worry because the whole point of existence here at VORTEX custom guitar and basses is to be here to help you have the instrument you have always dreamed of.
So here you can choose every piece of wood on your instrument! every little detail! From Neck Wood, Body Wood, Fingerboard, Headstock, Wood Inlays or even our custom Wooden Knobs! Isn't that amazing?
